  • Preparation time: 20 minutes
  • Cooking time: 7-9 minutes
  • For this recipe you will need: 2 mini patty tins and a small fluted pastry cutter

Ingredients

  • 5 thin slices of Genius White Bread
  • 5 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 tube of cream cheese
  • 5 slices of good quality sliced ham

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C/350°F/gas mark 4 and lay out the slices of bread on a bread board. Cut out 4 bite-sized rounds from each slice of bread with a small pastry cutter. Place these on a baking tray.
  2. Lightly brush with melted butter and bake in the preheated oven for 5 minutes or until the toasties are light golden brown. Turn the toasties over and bake for a further 2 minutes or until golden brown and crisp.
  3. Transfer the toasties to a wire rack. Once cold, the toasties can be stored for up to three days in an airtight container.
  4. Before assembling the toasties, crisp up in a hot oven for 2 minutes and cool on a wire rack. To top the toasties, liberally spread them with cream cheese. Use the same pastry cutter to stamp out rounds of ham and press onto the cream cheese
  5. Pipe a smiley face onto each ham-topped toasty and serve within 30 minutes.
