Smiley cream cheese and ham toasties
These delicious little toasties go down a treat at children’s parties.
- Makes 20 toasties
- Preparation time: 20 minutes
- Cooking time: 7-9 minutes
- For this recipe you will need: 2 mini patty tins and a small fluted pastry cutter
Ingredients
- 5 thin slices of Genius White Bread
- 5 tbsp melted butter
- 1 tube of cream cheese
- 5 slices of good quality sliced ham
Method
- Preheat the oven to 180°C/350°F/gas mark 4 and lay out the slices of bread on a bread board. Cut out 4 bite-sized rounds from each slice of bread with a small pastry cutter. Place these on a baking tray.
- Lightly brush with melted butter and bake in the preheated oven for 5 minutes or until the toasties are light golden brown. Turn the toasties over and bake for a further 2 minutes or until golden brown and crisp.
- Transfer the toasties to a wire rack. Once cold, the toasties can be stored for up to three days in an airtight container.
- Before assembling the toasties, crisp up in a hot oven for 2 minutes and cool on a wire rack. To top the toasties, liberally spread them with cream cheese. Use the same pastry cutter to stamp out rounds of ham and press onto the cream cheese
- Pipe a smiley face onto each ham-topped toasty and serve within 30 minutes.
