Any news on getting Genius on prescription yet?

Saturday, 23 January 2010 10:14:04

This is great news! I wrote to say how wonderful it is and they should stock it! Lets get it in every supermarket!

Saturday, 23 January 2010 11:08:58

Fantastic! I love this bread...abouut time someone made a loaf that tastes good and doesnt fall apart!
But will there ever be any stock? 9/10 times i go food shopping it's out of stock everywhere!!!!

Saturday, 23 January 2010 11:23:22

Great news, I make a special trip to Tesco 4 miles away at the moment. Have tried 4 or 5 types of wheat free bread, but this is the only one which is not only edible but makes the best toast I've ever tasted.

Saturday, 23 January 2010 11:45:24

Wonderful news, my Tesco store is 4 miles away and Sainsbury's just up the roaad. Best GF bread I have ever had.

Saturday, 23 January 2010 12:02:21

Brilliant news!! Genius is the best thing since.....well sliced bread really! Agree with the comment about it being out of stock, however I found it out of stock in the Free From section at my local Tesco store but found it by accident piled high in the normal bread aisle. Weird, but at least I found it!

Saturday, 23 January 2010 12:23:31

I hope Sainsbury's gets its act together faster than Waitrose did. My local Waitrose, in Abingdon took months to place your bread on their shelves;to date they stock only white bread and have it in the "poisonous" bread area so many coeliacs are not aware of its presence.

Saturday, 23 January 2010 12:26:49

I love the way the site is developing with more and more recipe ideas being added. I subscribe to two others, one of which is Canada based and the other USA so it's great to have the equivalent in Scotland! At least the ingredients will be freely available!!!!!

Saturday, 23 January 2010 12:28:03

I would just like to let people know that I took 3 loaves of Genius to Brasilia where I spent Christmas and New Year. The Brasilians are very, very aware of food allergies and were very helpful everywhere I went. The food labelling is excellent. I can't comment on the bread as I didn't look for any as I knew I wouldn't find better than Genius.

Saturday, 23 January 2010 12:51:10

I would love to try this genius bread etc. but despite being listed by genius for various shops in Ireland no one seems to have heard of it and unfortunately no stock , any help would be most welcome

Saturday, 23 January 2010 12:52:06

Great to get Genius on prescription nowJust collected mine from Boots Will the sliced vesion be available too? It's the best tasting GF bread.

Saturday, 23 January 2010 13:19:22

I have also just picked up my sons genius bread from boots. It took a while to get the doctors to do the presrciption but the wait has been worth it!! Please advise if I can also get the sliced, the I will be able to pop it straight in the freeezer without having to cut 6 loaves first. I tried freezing it then cutting frozen but it didn't work!

Its great to have edible bread on prescription!! Thank you so much!

Saturday, 23 January 2010 13:22:55

I have had Genius bread, brown and white on pescription, and was even allowed to get 6 white and 6 brown! That is because you cannot get a mix of the two, so either one or the other. On their own iniative they sent me 6 of each! I am very pleased with the bread as every one is!

Saturday, 23 January 2010 14:17:58

SUPERB bread. I haven't tried getting it on prescription yet but am going to send in to my doctor the email you sent us about the matter several weeks ago. delighted about Sainsbury's as well. My local (huge) Tesco store is often out of it, especially the white. I have never, ever tasted gluten-free bread like this and you deserve every award going!

Saturday, 23 January 2010 15:35:05

Very sad to say that my doctor's surgery will not prescribe Genius for me.I don't begrudge a single penny that I pay for Genius but it would be so helpful to get this on prescription as I don't have the other prescribed items that are available.I thought it was mean tbh I cannot thnak Genius enough for this wonderful product.I am lucky to get this at my very local Tesco.

Saturday, 23 January 2010 16:00:36

Delighted to hear that Sainsbury's are stocking Genius bread. Will be much easier to restock. Looking forward to buying the new bread rolls too. Any date yet? Interested to read blog by Brasilian visitor as am planning trip there myself in the summer and have been concerned about managing special diet there. Thanks!

Saturday, 23 January 2010 16:08:46

Yes great news that Sainsbury's in now stoking Genius bread. I normally have to make special trips to Tesco and sometimes don't get it - it is really disappointing as I enjoy it so much. Thanks for all the research you have put into this lovely bread!

Saturday, 23 January 2010 16:12:57

Marvellous news that Genius bread is now in Sainsburys. I usually have to travel 12 miles to get it so you have saved me this journey which I was only making for the bread.

Sunday, 24 January 2010 09:24:55

IRELAND IRELAND IRELAND : Dunnes Stores in Cornelscourt have Genius. In fact they have a huge amount of it on display! Keep asking for it in your local store.... get the manager (ones in suits) to order it for you, if this doent work phone HQ and ask for the buyer!

Sunday, 24 January 2010 10:19:11

great I can now get Genius bread at waitrose 9mls away instead of 14mls to tesco. Disappointed when asking the person next to me if she was coeliac answer no but she was taking Genius. I am sure she did not realise that gluten free was vital to people like me but of course I suppose she is entitled to buy just the same. It would help if this bread could be stored on 'free from' shelves only and not with other bread.

Sunday, 24 January 2010 16:51:06

I also found Genius in the 'normal' bread aisle but Out of Stock in the Free From aisle. Tesco don't seem to understand the importance of stocking this wonderful bread in the Free From section first. It's bad enough having such restricted choice in the supermarket and it makes me feel worse having to wander through the normal (and much cheaper) bread aisle to find my lovely Genius!

Sunday, 24 January 2010 20:00:20

IRELAND live in Co.Mayo I had to get my Genius in Strabane. The nearest to me is Galway. I Keep asking in Dunnes they say it's only in the big stores. I will ring headquaters and hope they start to stock nationwide.I love Genius bread thank god for it and look forward to seeing it in all stores.

Monday, 25 January 2010 09:46:30

excellent product the only g,free bread that actualy tastes and behave,s like wheat loaves."Bravo" Lucinda. Please can you advise me what information I would need to give my doctor to obtain it on prescription.

Monday, 25 January 2010 10:20:43

Do you actually have to be a coeliac to get Genuius bread on the NHS or does a wheat intolerance qualify???

Monday, 25 January 2010 12:44:30

I have been buying your bread since I was diagnosed last year. It is the best gluten free bread.
I have just bought the new sliced loaves in Sainsburys this weekend, much more convenient for me and nice size slices much better for a sandwich. Keep up the good work.

Monday, 25 January 2010 14:45:47

10 years of awful GF bread and at last somebody has made an edible loaf - Yippee!
I stumbled across Genius in Asda last week and when I checked my local Sainsbury's on Friday they had the brown sliced loaf.
This is just wonderful - well done and thank you to you at Genius bread! :)

Monday, 25 January 2010 16:56:27

So exciting to be able to have a 'sandwich' for packed lunch, the same as everyone else. We had a packed lunch from a hotel last week and gave them our Genius bread for our sandwiches-it was great! I do agree with the fact that so many supermarkets run out so quickly. And also it's a bit of a treasure hunt to find it--is it in the free from isle or is it lurking with the yucky wheat stuff!!Carry on the campaign everyone!

Monday, 25 January 2010 19:08:26

soooo happy!!!!

Tuesday, 26 January 2010 12:57:09

What a great taste. First gluten free loaf I have actually enjoyed. Found it in Sainsburys on Saturday. Well done.

Tuesday, 26 January 2010 15:27:45

Tuesday, 26 January 2010 18:11:39

Tuesday, 26 January 2010 18:31:08

I managed to pick up some wonderful sliced genius bread in sainsburys today but only found it with the normal bread and rolls etc.

Tuesday, 26 January 2010 18:47:58

I put an order in to my surgery this morning, only to have them phone me this evening to say I cannot have it on prescripton in my area, why not?//

Wednesday, 27 January 2010 14:23:41

I went in to my local Sainsbury’s in Sandown on the Isle of Wight on Saturday and noticed with much joy they had the brown sliced Genius bread. There was no price label on the item but I assumed it would be the roughly the same as my local Tesco store. Don’t be suckered like I was, I was charged £3.18! I am totally discusted and sick of being discriminated against! Shame on you Sainsburys

Wednesday, 27 January 2010 16:33:23

LOve Genius bread, but so very exspensive!! Why?
Its great that its in more supermarkets!!

Wednesday, 27 January 2010 20:50:38

I love this bread but we are unable to purchase it in Jersey - Channel Islands. Please make it available here or could you post direct?
Thank you. Ellen Miles

Wednesday, 27 January 2010 20:52:52

Ireland. My local Dunnes in Longford stocked Genius for a while but now its never in stock. Help bring back decent wheat free bread. Long live a slice of edible toast

Friday, 29 January 2010 10:40:27

It is great and in stock at Sainsbury's, Castlepoint, Bournemouth For £1.44

Saturday, 30 January 2010 22:23:31

Had to take a bus journey today to stock up from Tesco - when will this great bread be on sale in Mprrisons? I can walk there!

In Uxbridge, Tescos has been stocking genius for a while now. They charge £2.49 but quite often have reductions of 50p. Recently Sainsburys introduced it here on introductory offer at "half price" at £1.44 for a few days. They are now charging the "full" price of £2.89. Am I alone in thinking this is profiteering on Sainsburys part. I don't work for Tescos I just have to watch the pennies.

Posted by Barbara B - Friday, 26 February 2010 14:24:33

Surely the bread doesn't have to be marked up to such a high price by the supermarkets. £2.49 at Tescos with the odd week of 50p off is bad enough. Sainsbury's are just profiteering..... all their glutenfree products are way way overpriced. I now keep a loaf or two in the freezer in case they've run out. I slice it and repack before putting it in and take out a couple of slices at a time. The toaster cooks from frozen well and you can defrost in microwave if in a hurry. If making sandwich for work... leave the bread frozen and make up sandwich... it will keep fresh for longer.

i buy two loaves every week from tesco at 2.45 but they have brought it down now to 1.98 thats not a special offer price thats the rrp now.

I do think this is a most incredible website for proclaiming great wonders of Our God!

We have a brand new Sainsbury's in Thame and I was disgusted to see that they charge £2.89 for a brown loaf. The one in Aylesbury charges £1.89 and so does Tesco. Even our Waitrose charges £2.49 - 40 pence cheaper.

Hi Wendy,
Thanks for your comment. The sliced loaf in Sainsbury's is a larger loaf. It is 600g as opposed to the 400g unsliced loaf. We hope this explains the difference in price.

I too love this bread and was told yesterday I should be able to get on perscription so I will be trying very soon.

Posted by melanie - Wednesday, 28 April 2010 09:16:52

our sainsburys only gets it in very small amounts(one box a week) and do not even know if they will be getting any more in, we do not have a tesco i can get to. i will be having a word with our sainsbury store manager, it is nice to be able to have sandwiches again.

Posted by Brenda - Thursday, 03 June 2010 17:14:43

if you think Sainsbury's are profiteers then come and buy this at our local Tesco -£3.39. That's appalling. I won't be buying anything there again

Posted by Clifton - Thursday, 08 July 2010 14:46:56

Why can't we buy it direct from Genius online and cut out the middleman?

Posted by Raquel - Tuesday, 17 August 2010 13:21:21

I just tried white genius bread for the first time and it is the best gluten free bread I have ever tasted! Well done!

Could someone tell me how to get the bread in prescription? Does anyone know the codes to pass them to my doctor?

Thanks

Hi,I am long time gluten free and after years of searching and having a go at making my own gluten free bread(very hit and miss)I am so pleased to have found this bread-its lovely. And you can freeze it too.Sainsburys and Tesco seem to be the only ones who stock it but its worth hunting down.

Posted by Karen Brotherton - Friday, 27 August 2010 11:28:57

Hi, my husband is a coeliac and i normally bake him GF bread, until i stumbled across genius in my local sainsbury store, wow, what a difference this is the best Gf bread ever made, we are so impressed it stays fresh, tastes great toasted or straight from the pack, Just wish it was available on prescription too like juvela. The only problem i find is, unless i get to the supermarket first thing, its out of stock, u got to grab it while you got the chance as it flies off the shlef....thank you
